My recovery Philosophy

I believe that treatment should never induce pain, but the reality is that, when certain tissues or joints have become riddled with adhesions (from lack of use, overuse, or scar tissue) it is necessary to progressively break up those adhesions in order to restore proper fluid, balance, and movement mechanics

I will sensitively palpate and probe into stiff tissues, joint capsules, and areas of dysfunction to manually break up those adhesions. I will identify the different layers of dysfunction and treat each one individually.

This process induces a bit of local swelling (this is a good thing) that ultimately helps remove the old stagnation and inflammation. It often feels like a tolerably brutal process.

Receiving regular bodywork improves your self-awareness. Cultivating a well defined self-awareness allows you to reduce uneven wear on your joints and tissues. This increases their health and longevity, while preventing and diminishing pain. Increasing fascial proprioception diminishes your perception of pain.

Conversely, an increase in pain diminishes your ability to propriocept (the more pain you have, the less coordinated and more prone to injury you are).

Your fascia is your secondary sensing organ. So much of what you feel physically is relayed by the well functioning nerve endings laced throughout your soft tissue scaffolding. Massaging the sensors reduces whole body tension and improves proprioception.
